The Beatles started their first North American concert tour 51
years ago, on August 19, 1964, in San Francisco’s Cow Palace.
That first concert lasted 38 minutes. The Fab Four had to
leave the arena under cover—in an ambulance—because the 17,130 fans went
berserk.
They played 12 songs:
“Twist and Shout”
“You Can’t Do That”
“All My Loving”
”She Loves You”
“Things We Said Today”
“Roll Over Beethoven”
“Can’t Buy Me Love”
“If I Fell”
“I Want to Hold Your Hand”
“Boys”
“A Hard Day’s Night”
“Long Tall Sally”
My fave is “Roll Over Beethoven.” It’s “a rockin’ rhythm record.” I guess you
already know that.
By the way, Chuck Berry wrote the song in 1956.
